Nurse Joy's Secret

Why do the Pokémon Nurse Joy look the same?

For those of us who have followed the Pokemon anime since its inception, we know that each region in which our beloved protagonist, a native of Paleta village, has been in, there have been several changes, in some cases more noticeable than others, but there is a character that has remained very current and with some notoriety until today.

And every time we go to a Pokemon Center we can see her always smiling and with a good attitude to cure our Pokemon, do you know who we mean, we are talking about the beloved Nurse Joy from Pokémon.

The first Pokémon Nurse Joy

She appears for the first time in the second episode of the first season of Pokemon, in Green City, she gives attention to Ash's Pikachu, which was seriously injured.

Nurse Joy through the generations

For a long time his appearance remained exactly the same, so in the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh his physical appearance was exactly the same.

It was not until Thesselia that he changed his appearance, later in Kalos his physical appearance would not change again but his attire would, although in a subtle way.

In Alola, on the other hand, she did change her physical appearance and outfit. Finally, in the Galar region, our beloved nurse has returned to her original appearance, only now with a better drawing design.

We solve the mystery

The curious thing is that all the Joy nurses we have seen to date are totally different people. Apparently, they are all part of a long family of identical nurses, and they are all named Joy, with striking similarities each.

The only way to differentiate them is by their caps which have a cross that changes color on each one of them, or, in the most recent generations, the difference can be seen by the color of the insignia on their lapels.
